Energy & Vitality
Tiredness is rarely just "low iron".
It is more often B-vitamin status, vitamin D deficiency, or oxidative stress. The nutrients with GB Authorised Health Claims for normal energy-yielding metabolism are mostly B vitamins. Vitamin D is the most under-supplied nutrient in UK adults. Both move the dial when actually deficient.
The nutrient causes of low energy are common, and treatable.
If you have been told your iron levels are fine but you still feel tired, the next most useful things to check are vitamin D, vitamin B12, B6, and thyroid function. B-vitamin deficiencies are common, particularly B12 in older adults and in those on plant-heavy diets. Vitamin D deficiency is widespread in UK adults from October to April when sunlight is too weak to drive skin synthesis.
Energy is also affected by how well your cells produce ATP (the body's energy currency). This is where the broader B-vitamin family and antioxidants like Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) come in. Our Niacin B3 Complex is built around the most evidence-backed energy nutrients in one daily formula.

Timing
Take Niacin B3 Complex with breakfast for steady daytime energy support. Vitamin D3 is fat-soluble; take it with a meal containing some fat (breakfast or lunch) for best absorption.
The B3 flush
Niacin (Nicotinic Acid) at therapeutic doses can cause a brief skin flushing sensation . warm, pink, sometimes mildly itchy . usually 15-30 minutes after taking it. This is normal, harmless, and tends to reduce as your body adjusts. Take with food to minimise.
Energy & vitality FAQs.
Will this give me an instant energy boost like coffee?
No. These supplements support the body's normal energy-yielding metabolism . the underlying biochemical processes that produce energy from food. Unlike caffeine, they do not create acute alertness. The benefit shows up over weeks of consistent use, particularly if you started with low B-vitamin or vitamin D status.
What is the niacin flush and is it dangerous?
The niacin flush is a temporary skin reddening sensation that can occur 15-30 minutes after taking nicotinic acid (the form of B3 in our formula). It is caused by histamine release that triggers blood vessel dilation. It is not dangerous, it is harmless, and many people develop tolerance over a few weeks. Taking the capsule with food helps minimise it. If you find it uncomfortable, you can split the dose or take with a higher-fat meal.
Can I take both Niacin B3 Complex and Vitamin D3 4000IU?
Yes. They target different aspects of energy. Take them together with breakfast (or split: Niacin with breakfast, Vitamin D3 with lunch). Both are well-tolerated when taken with food.
Who should not take niacin?
Speak to your GP before taking high-dose niacin if you have liver disease, gout, peptic ulcer disease, or are taking medication for blood pressure or cholesterol. Niacin can interact with statins. Always disclose supplements you take to any clinician treating you.
I am pregnant or trying to conceive. Can I take this?
For trying to conceive, our Fertility Advance and Fertility Focus formulas already contain B vitamins and vitamin D at preconception-appropriate doses. The standalone Niacin B3 Complex contains higher doses than typical preconception protocols; speak to your fertility nutritionist or midwife before adding it to your regimen. Vitamin D3 4000IU is generally considered safe during pregnancy if you are deficient, but confirm with your midwife.
How long until I notice a difference?
If you were genuinely deficient in vitamin D or B vitamins, you may notice improvements in 2-4 weeks. If your levels were already adequate, the effect will be more subtle (maintenance rather than restoration). A blood test before and after a 3-month trial gives the clearest picture.
