What this means
Why a single value tells you little
One hCG number is hard to interpret in isolation. Pregnancies start at very different baseline levels and what matters is the trend. Even a "low" value can be reassuring if it is rising appropriately, and a "high" value can be misleading without context.
Doubling time also naturally slows as levels climb. Above about 1,200 mIU/mL it may take 72 to 96 hours to double. Above 6,000 mIU/mL it can take 96 hours or longer. That is normal.
